Ivona’s Mission:

To teach children the joy of focus and the passion for strategy.
To support parents in preparing their children to work creatively and to develop self-motivation, self-confidence, and perseverance.

The lessons are tailored for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students.

Benefits of Learning to Play Chess Include:
  • Increased attention span
  • Critical thinking
  • Development of problem-solving skills
  • Recognition of patterns
  • The ability to concentrate and focus
  • Improved patience and poise
  • A positive attitude
  • Team work

Past experience has shown that children who learn to play chess exhibit higher academic achievement, enhanced self-esteem, confidence in their intellectual abilities, and exceptional improvement in mathematics, reading, spatial awareness, visualization, focus, social skills, and so much more. This is a gift for a lifetime!

Chess4SuccessLA offers two types of chess programs at your school:

Critical Thinking Class

Chess is taught during the regular school day as part of the math class curriculum. I’ve been teaching this class for the past 15 years at St. Paul the Apostle school in Westwood to kindergarten and first grade students. The kids and their teachers love it!

After-School Weekly Chess Classes

These classes are one hour long and take place once a week.
